Why choose SCD?
With over 12 years of experience, Scenic City Dance is one of the most recognized dance facilities in the Chattanooga area. We are known for our technical training + dance education for dancers ages 2-18 and our award winning competitive program. SCD was recently named the ADCC Studio of Excellence for 2022. Our staff has over 50 years of teaching experience, awards such as Dance Educator of the Year, and 24x National Champions. SCD instructors provide superior dance education through their extensive knowledge and own experiences. College Degrees in dance education, CPR certifications, YPAD certifications, and professional performance careers, our staff is dedicated to providing the BEST dance education possible.
How do I get my child started at SCD?
Not sure where to begin!? Let us help! If your child dances through the living room and halfway through dinner, you have come to the right place. We are where creativity begins and dance dreams come true. The easiest way to schedule a visit, learn more about classes and availability is to email SCD! What does SCD offer?
SCD is home to The Pixie Dust Academy, a custom dance curriculum for dancers ages 2-5. Our Pixie Dust Academy is designed to inspire your dancer through the magic of dance education, creativity, exploration, and independence. Our CORE training program is designed for Ages 6-18. We offer technical foundations and dance education in the following genres, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Progressions, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip-Hop. Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, and Tap. Students are evaluated by the SCD staff and placed in the appropriate level based on execution, previous dance knowledge/experience, discipline, maturity, etc. SCD reevaluates all dancers in December and May for placement reconsiderations.
My child has never danced before is it too late to start now?
Not at all! Scenic City Dance offers classes for all ages and all levels. We will find the perfect fit for your child to learn, grow, and succeed!
It's my first dance class, what do I wear?
For a trial class, we ask that dancers wear form fitting movable attire for class. Fitted shorts, leggings, sports bra, tank top, fitted shirt is all acceptable. We do ask that dancers do not wear skirts, school attire, jeans, sweatshirts, etc. Be sure their hair is pulled back and barefoot.
Where do I purchase dance attire?
Click here to view our required attire. You may purchase all attire and shoes online by clicking the image. Dancers are required to have proper attire for class 2 weeks after enrollment.
Can dancers enroll at any time?
Yes! Our Season runs from August through May. Dancers may register for classes anytime between August-February, March-May SCD is preparing for the end of the year Showcase therefore registration closes at the end of February.
Do you offer a competitive team?
Yes! Scenic City Dance is a 19x National Champion and the ADCC Studio of Excellence for 2022. Our team consists of dancers ages 5-18, competes at 5 events a season, and trains separate from our Core Program. If you are interested in learning more about our award winning team, please contact our Company Manager, Miss Kaity Smith at company@sceniccitydance.com. Dancers are not required to participate in the competitive team to train at SCD.
What performances are available for my dancer?
Scenic City Dance presents a Winter showcase each season in December. All dancers ages 5 and up can audition for the show. Dancers who audition for the Winter Showcase will automatically be casted into the show. (All dancers will have a role) All dancers enrolled in Mini through Senior levels classes will participate in the Season 12 Showcase B. (June 2nd-4th) All Pixie Dust Academy classes perform in the Season 12 Showcase A (June 3rd & 4th). Showcase B performs 3x and Showcase A performs 2x.
How much does it cost?
All tuition is paid monthly. Cost for classes is decided by how many hours per week your dancer is enrolled. Click Here to see our pricing chart! We do offer a 10% family discount for siblings.
